1. This DC travelouge from Peggy Wong is a little bit unbelievable. GORGEOUS.

  2. It’s positively frigid outside and NYC is none too happy about it…myself included.

And as my train rolled up the east side this morning I found my mind drifting back to my weekend in the district. Old friends and a new friend in my old city for 30-some hours.

    But how ARE you?
    I have news!
    I have no news.
    Do you need a drink?
    I bought a bike!

Blossoms, drippy & awful rain, a Kelly Bensimon sighting (!), books, the best bakery, and the Old Ebbitt. Few things me happier than sharing a couch, or a brunch table, or an Amtrak asile with sweet friends while they tell their stories.

  4. I’m 2.5 hours into megabussing down to D.C for…wait for it…MY BEST FRIEND’S BACHELORETTE PARTY.
We plan on keeping up with the Jones’ (aka Wills and Kate) and let me assure you “there will be plenty of booze and some legendary activity.” I’ll try to remember to take pictures.
Well you think I would’ve planned better. But between late nights at work, birthday celebrating, baking the cupcakes for this shindig, and trying to piece together the makings of a grown-up life, I didn’t manage to get a dress. Thank goodness for Gap. I ran into the Herald Square location in a panic, grabbed the first frock I spotted, and booked it to the check out line.
I hope it works. I hope it fits.
Happy Friday, beans! May your weekends be legendary.

  5. GPYOW “The Last Sculpture Garden Friday” Edition
I left D.C. exactly one year ago (this Saturday).
Time flies when you’re busy getting old.
Oh, and, life rule: always share your cupcakes.

  7. Be a little careful about your library. Do you foresee what you will do with it? … But the real question is, What it will do with you? You will come here and get books that will open your eyes, and your ears, and your curiosity, and turn you inside out or outside in.

Sorry for the radio silence. This weekend was one of reunions and excess and blogging just got lost in the shuffle. Lo siento!

But now I’m sitting in my favorite bookshop on earth* (a lofty but all too true statement) with money in the meter, coffee on the table, and a free hour to kill. It’s a good life.

*One that was just put up for sale…I don’t want to talk about it

  9. Intimidation comes in all forms...

    1. B: Sometimes really intense hair parts intimidate me.
    2. Me: Hm. Yeah, like "hey I MADE a decision today! What did you do?"
    3. B: Uh huh. Like, "my hair obeeeys me!"

Less than 24 hours until Brizzad activities commence! Alright, I have to go—tailgate plans to make. A tailgate is serious business. Awesome business? Yes. But serious business? Definitely.
