Breaking J.K. Rowling News of the Day: News from the industry vine this morning is that J.K. Rowling has officially signed a book deal with Little, Brown, and will soon be releasing her highly anticipated Harry Potter follow up.
No word yet on title, plot, or publication date, but word is that the book’s target audience will be adults.
“Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series,” said the author in a press release.
The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.

It’s been a tremendously cool morning in the office.
Every single hat off to the @littlebrown team.

- Pella Affenlight | The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach
I’m honestly shocked at how much I love The Art of Fielding. (HEY man, I never claimed an ounce of originality.) It’s nothing like I imagined. I have a hundred pages to go and I can’t help but stop to re-read things—I hate the thought of the whole thing ending.
