Alex (age 2): Miss Julia, Imma hit Cooper. (Context: Cooper is her older BF, I believe he's 3.)
Me: Oh no! That's not so nice, bug. Why?
Alex: Cooper pull my arm.
Me: Oh no, he pulled your arm! Hitting and pulling are big no-no's. Is he still your boyfriend?
Alex: Yeah. [shrugs] It's cool.

My parents are a story of opposites.
My mother grew up on a farm in rural, central Illinois. She learned to drive in a cornfield at the age of 11. She has three older brothers and was born with bright red curly hair. She smiles at strangers and worries about them, too. She believes in the benefit of the doubt and always remembers.
My father shares his hometown with 18 million other people. He...

There is something you should know about me...

10 Pieces of Tuesday Truth:
I am so tired that I can’t muster the energy to brush my hair.
My e-mail inbox reads “97”
My Google Reader is stuck at 1,000+
Yesterday was a blur of great. I spent it in NYC. After a three hour lunch with one of my favorite people on the planet, Jill, I had my first blog blind meet up with Marian of Marian Librarian. Coffee turned into two hours of funny and wonderful.

For 5 whole days I lived without:
Tumblr, Gmail, GChat, Twitter, Facebook, and wait for it…my CELL PHONE.
Yup. No lie. 5 blissful, perfect days!
I will confess that a teensy bit of me missed it all…but only a teensy bit. Never fear though, I’m in the U.S. o’ A (Miami Intl. Airport, to be exact) and I’m certain that I’ll be back to my old Internet-addicted self by Tuesday.
Expect photos,...

Me: Guys, guess what? I'm going to Mexico for a little next week. I won't be able to come over and play.
Danny (age 4): Well, I've been to Mexico. We are more fun.

Georgia (age 2): [From the other room] MY DADDY WEARS TIES!
